Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo flooring is one of the most popular options in hardwood flooring these days,   Bamboo flooring is environmentally friendly, durable, moisture resistant and bamboo flooring also comes in a variety of options and styles.  Bamboo flooring is made from bamboo (obviously) which is actually a fast-growing light colored grass.  Bamboo flooring is darkened through a process known as carbonization in which the bamboo flooring is subjected to steam and pressure which changes its color.

Natural bamboo is a hard and dense product with a Janka Scale rating which is harder than oak.  Carbonizing bamboo flooring softens the floor somewhat, but still leaves a hard and durable product.  Another great advantage of bamboo flooring is its natural resistance to moisture and in turn resistance to staining (resistant to stains does not mean it will not stain, however, and all spills should be cleaned up immediately).

Bamboo flooring will also be dimensionally more stable than most woods because of its laminated construction.

Bamboo flooring is available in natural and carbonized colors as well as in horizontal, vertical or stranded construction.
